CLIMATE
The climate of Greece is a characteristic Mediterranean one with great periods of sunshine throughout the year. It is characterized by mild and humid winters and relatively warm and dry summers.
Due to the topographic formation of the country, that is characterized by great altitude difference and an alternation of land and sea, the climate is very different from area to area.
Based on the climate we can discern two seasons in the year:
The warm and dry summer, which lasts from April to October, and the mild and cool winter, from November to March, during which there are snowfalls at mountainous regions.
Rainfalls are not usually of great duration and this is why Greece is famous for its clear, blue sky. A pleasant spring interval occurs in the heart of winter, when the sunny Halcyon days appear, which were known from antiquity.
